Bid Book Book2 Paralympic Games Paralympic Legacy

Over the recent years, the Moscow City Government jointly with respective public associations has been consistently implementing a programme aimed at improving the city infrastructure for people with disabilities.

Specifically, the accessibility needs of the disabled using wheelchairs are now considered when designing housing and office facilities, hotels, railway stations, road transport network, sports venues, etc., as well as when renewing the public transport rolling stock. This approach will also be applied to the preparations for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

We are confident that the organisation and staging of the Paralympic Games in Moscow will significantly encourage and facilitate greater mobility and access for disabled persons throughout the city. The Games venues, including their competition and noncompetition infrastructure, and the heroic and inspiring performances of the Paralympians will help ensure a sustainable and lasting legacy for disabled people in our city and country.
