In conformity with the established procedure, all construction projects are subject to mandatory environmental impact assessment in Russia in general and Moscow in particular. No construction activity is authorised unless a positive Environmental Impact Assessment is obtained. Since 1995, the City Government has required a Sanitary and Ecological Passport for all construction products.
An environmental impact assessment (EIA) of the existing Moscow Olympic venues and those planned to be built is available. Similar EIAs will also be produced, during the project design phase, for the new sites that are to be built for staging the Olympic Games.
The initial Environmental Impact Assessment for all Olympic sites and facilities summarises feasibility of the Olympic Project in environmental terms and the measures needed to alleviate any negative impact is underway. The final document will be presented to the IOC Evaluation Commission during its visit.
