Moscow’s bid for the 2012 Olympic Games has secured the full and unqualified support of the Federal and City levels of government. Resolutions on nomination of Moscow as the Candidate City to host the Games of the XXX Olympiad were approved by the Moscow City Duma and the Moscow City Government in October 2002. In adopting these resolutions, the Moscow City Government undertakes to provide all sports facilities and infrastructure, as well as financial, technical and human resources required for the Games. The guarantee confirming the obligations assumed by the Moscow City Government is available.
In March 2003, the bid was endorsed by the RF State Duma Chairman, while in April 2003 the bid was approved by the Presidium of the RF President’s Sports Council. In May 2003, the RF Prime Minister enthusiastically endorsed Moscow’s application to the IOC. The respective guarantee from the Russian Federation Government is available.
Given the overwhelming support of the public and business community, the Federal and Municipal authorities are fully prepared to assume any and all necessary obligations directly related to the staging of the Games. Should Moscow be awarded the Host City status, all the necessary commitments to the Olympic parties will be honoured.
