In accordance with the IOC established timeframe, the Games of the XXX Olympiad in Moscow are to be held within 16 days from 14 to 29 July, 2012; and the proposed dates for 2012 Paralympic Games are 11-22 August, 2012.

This timeframe has historically provided favourable weather conditions conducive to superior outdoor sporting performance with little-to-no negative impact on logistics or transportation during the Games.

According to the meteorological statistics over the last 100 years, the average ambient air temperature in Moscow during these weeks is between 18 to 25 C°, with minimal occurrence of rain showers or windy conditions.
