There are 4 major trunk radio networks in Moscow. The carriers of these networks operate equipment of several standards using a variety of frequency ranges. The coverage capacity of the trunk radio networks concerned fully includes Moscow and the adjacent areas. Since September 2004, one of the leading trunk telephony operators has started upgrading its network. This upgrade envisages installation of the «TETRA» digital standard equipment which is considered the most promising for use in Russia. The largescale renewal and expansion of the above network is intended to be implemented in 5 stages and will be completed by 2007. Accordingly, for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, an up-to-date ramified infrastructure for the digital trunk type radio securing any prompt intercommunication needs will be duly provided. Full local coverage is guaranteed.
