OLYMPIC SECURITY
The key responsibility for security during the Olympic Games will be entrusted with the RF Ministry of the Interior. Additionally, substantial security functions will be performed by the Federal Security Service, Civil Defence and Emergencies Ministry, and a number of other federal and municipal bodies.
Security departments at sports and cultural sites, as well as other private security companies will be involved as auxiliary resources in sorting out certain matters concerned.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The main responsibilities of the leading agencies and institutions in charge of the Olympic security are allocated and clearly presented in the «Organisation of the implementation phase» chart given below in 12.6. The major workload and responsibility will be born by the RF Ministry of the Interior (see above). This Ministry will be entrusted with the authority to act as an interagency coordinator and will head the single management structure (see 12.10).
The interaction between the Moscow OCOG and the agencies and services involved will be secured through their joint participation in the activities of the single management structure, the latter being specially created to ensure efficient coordination of the joint effort. If required, certain operational matters will be adjusted as the situation dictates.
ORGANISATIONS NOT INVOLVED IN THE OLYMPIC GAMES SECURITY All the key agencies and organisations will be involved with Olympic Games security. However, in most cases their responsibilities and contributions will notably differ.
